In this episode, we continue with the Summer Shorts for the month of August. The episodes are around ten minutes long as it's time to get outside, enjoy the open air, take our holidays, and most importantly, catch up on some reading. So, each Summer Short covers a couple of books that are recommended and one book that I'm going to be reading myself.
The books in this week’s summer short are pretty much guaranteed to get you feeling better about your life. You may end up more productive and I think you’ll end up a bit happier too.
Why We Sleep: The New Science of Sleep and Dreams by
Matt Walker
To die, to sleep - to sleep; perchance to dream etc etc as said
Hamlet. Walker takes all the good evidence about sleep and bundles
it up in one super-readable volume. Get your sleep right and you’ll
enjoy better health. It is a super-power.

How Not To Die: Discover the foods scientifically proven
to prevent and reverse disease by Dr Michael Greger
An absolutely monsterload of evidence comes freighted with this
book. My paperback is 658 pages long but the book itself ends on
page 455. The rest is mostly the references. I don’t always agree
with the conclusions but it’s a deeply impressive tome.

A Mindfulness Guide for the Frazzled by Ruby
Wax
This is one of my must-read books of the summer. It has been out
for a few years but I’m still pussyfooting around not quite getting
it sorted with mindfulness. I pick up fragments here and I’m hoping
this book will help get me sorted.
